Frequently asked questions

What is chiropractic?

A chiropractor is a university educated health care professional focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Chiropractors will use a variety of techniques including but not limited to spinal manipulative therapy, joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy and massage, exercise prescription and ergonomic advice. Chiropractors are equipped to treat both spinal and peripheral complaints.

Will treatment be painful?

In most cases, not at all. In fact most people find having a chiropractic adjustment very beneficial providing increased movement and less pain almost instantly.

What is the 'cracking'?

With some adjustments you may sometimes feel or hear a popping sound (cavitation) from the spinal joints. This is simply caused by a gas release from the joint as spinal movement is restored.

Can chiropractic help me?

If you are unsure whether a chiropractor can help you, call up and ask for a free, no strings attached, 15 minute consultation to discuss your health concerns and whether chiropractic is right for you. If chiropractic is not the right option for you we will happily refer you appropriately.

What can I expect?

Initial consultation: For your first visit, allow up to 60 minutes for the chiropractor to thoroughly take your health history, perform a thorough examination, and treat you as required. You may be referred for x-rays if it is determined they are necessary.

Standard consultation: A standard consultation will take around 15-20 minutes. Generally it will begin with an examination and is then followed by soft tissue therapy and adjustments as required. Dry needling can be used for some conditions.

Initial consultation: $90 ($80 for children, full time students and pensioners)

Standard consultation: $70 ($60 for children, full time students and pension card holders)
